HAVE YOUR SAY ON PLANNING POLICIES FOR OUR VILLAGE!

Standish Development Plan 2026 -2040

Pre-Submission Draft (Regulation 14)

Notice of Regulation 14 Consultation on the Standish draft Neighbourhood Development Plan in accordance with the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended).

A Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) for Standish is something that the Parish Council has been working towards for several years. We now have a draft plan (the pre-submission draft) ready, and need your views on the policies in the plan, so that we know that we are submitting our final proposal to Stroud District Council in line with our community’s expectations.

A wide range of local residents have contributed to the plan in a variety of ways during its preparation and the Parish Council is very grateful for all the input received.

What’s the purpose of a Neighbourhood Development Plan?

The NDP gives us an opportunity to describe both what we want to protect and preserve in our parish and how we want it to develop. It helps us to be proactively involved in planning decisions that affect us. It fits in with the Stroud District Local Plan and, once adopted, it will have the same legal status as the Stroud Local Plan and be used to guide and inform decisions on planning applications in Standish.

How are the NDP documents organised on the website?

The main policy document provides background information and goes on to set out the 6 policies in the NDP, including objectives, supporting text and details of the policies which, if adopted, will guide development in Standish until 2040.

There are then 6 evidence papers which review the available evidence and broader Development Plan policies to justify the approach in the NDP:

  1. Planning Policy Context
  2. Standish Development Framework
  3. Locally Significant Assets
  4. Sustainable Travel in Standish
  5. Community Facilities
  6. Stagholt Farm Site Allocation as Protected Area of Search

There are 2 free-standing appendices written by consultants, Illman Young Landscape Design Ltd, that provide background information and further detail to the NDP.

  • Standish Landscape Appraisal – text
  • Standish Landscape Appraisal – figures

These independently-authored documents support the NDP:

  • Habitats Regulations Assessment
  • Strategic Environmental Assessment

The following documents will be compiled following the Regulation 14 consultation on the NDP:

  • Basic Conditions Statement
  • Consultation Statement

We hope that you will support us by providing your feedback on the Standish NDP. We have provided a questionnaire that you may wish to use as a framework for your comments. Scroll down to see the documents.

If you are unable to access the plan electronically and need a hard copy, please email the clerk or call 01453 544098. The clerk will advise the cost of the hard copy, as it is a large document (300+ pages).

Please return your comments to clerk@standishpc.org.uk

Hard copy responses should be sent to:

Standish Parish Council c/o Standish Lower Mill, Standish, Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, GL10 3DW

The consultation runs from 1st July to 11th August 2026

Thank you for your support with this important process.
